Bill Simmons spent two seasons on ESPN's NBA Countdown where he received mixed reviews.

Simmons is launching his own show on HBO this month and his performances on Countdown have led many to be skeptical of his prospects.

"They've had Countdown for 15 years, and it's never been good," said Simmons. "It fails every year, and still people were like, 'Oh, [Bill] can't do TV.' Well, nobody has ever been good on that show."

Countdown is currently hosted by Sage Steele, Jalen Rose and Doug Collins.
