Magic Johnson is confident the Los Angeles Lakers will be in a position to pitch 2018 free agents due to their young core of Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram.

The Lakers cleared 2018 cap space by trading away Timofey Mozgov and aren't taking on any multi-year deals this offseason. The Lakers would also like to unload Luol Deng's contract as well as Jordan Clarkson's.

"You got a good young core [of players], who all are great," Johnson says. "I think Lonzo will help to make them guys better. It's going to be a fun team to watch. I think Laker fans will be happy."

The 2018 free agency class includes LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Paul George, Russell Westbrook and DeMarcus Cousins.

"I think what's really important, is that now free agents will say, 'They got enough firepower now.' I think that's the key. We're talented enough that free agents will say, 'They got it going now.'"
