At 2-13, the Cleveland Cavaliers now have the worst record in the NBA.

J.R. Smith believes the Cavaliers always planned to be bad this season.

“I don’t think the goal is to win. The goal isn’t to go out there and try to get as many wins as you can,” Smith said. “I think the goal is to develop and lose to get lottery picks. I think that was always the plan.”

Smith is not interested in being part of the rebuild

“Not if the goal isn’t to compete, to win,” he said.

Smith has requested a trade twice, but he remains with the franchise because he's refused to accept a buyout. Smith doesn't currently have a relationship with Koby Altman.
