Kenny Atkinson explained that the football-inspired cue cards he held up during the Brooklyn Nets' 123-116 win over the Houston Rockets communicated defensive coverages to his players.

One cue card involved a crossed out photo of former Magic player Dennis Scott. The message was to guard the three-point line.

"It's just a defensive coverage we have. We've had trouble communicating it to guys in the past. So, we came up with this idea where everybody knows," said Atkinson.

There are no explicit rules against holding up signs, although an opposing team could file a complaint if they are distracted by the cue cards.
