Louisville Hornets?
Hornets owners George Shinn and Ray Wooldridge were in Louisville Monday, some say secretly, meeting with officials from that city about potentially moving the team there. As a result Charlotte leaders say they're not prepared to fight to keep the Hornets in Charlotte if team owners want to move the team to Louisville, Ky. Are Charlotte and the Hornets destined for divorce?
"That issue is just not on my plate at this time," McCrory said at a news conference to discuss US Airways' financial problems. "Right now my major concern is with employees who could be impacted by potential cuts, particularly in the airline industry." Gray then added, "I hope (the Hornets) stay here, but this is an issue where I concur with the mayor: It's not as high a priority this week as it was maybe two weeks ago."
