Ex-Chicago forward Eddie Robinson, who was brought out by the Bulls last week, has failed his physical exam which he he needed to become a New York Knick.  Robinson was set to earn the $1.3 million remining on the Knicks' mid-level exception.

Robinson, who has a bone growth disorder in his toe, has decided to undergo surgery that will sideline him from six weeks to three months.

``He's already getting paid for the next year and a half, so we decided to go ahead and get the surgery done,'' agent James Bryant said.

The Knicks, who bought out Shandon Anderson's contract earlier this week, had only 11 players in uniform for Friday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
