The two-time slam dunk champion had decided against participating in this years slam dunk contest.  Jason Richardson, who won in 2002 and 2003, has yet to be contacted by the league anyway.

"There's no sense in going down there just for that," said Richardson, who said he doesn't expect to be announced as one of the Western Conference reserves today.

Richardson did hint that he might still compete if invited, however it would depend on who else was in the contest.

"I'm going to use the time off to get some rest," said Richardson, who tore a tendon in his right hand and severely sprained his left ankle in the first half of the season. "I'm getting old."
