General Manager Larry Harris announced today that the Milwaukee Bucks have acquired guard Reece Gaines and two second round draft picks (2006, 2007) from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Mike James and center Zendon Hamilton.

Currently in his second NBA season, Gaines, 24, has averaged 2.6 points and 1.1 rebounds in 10 games for the Rockets. Gaines was originally selected by the Orlando Magic with the 15th pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and scored 1.8 points, 1.1 assists and 1.0 rebound in 38 games during his rookie campaign. A 6-6, 205-lb native of Madison, WI, Gaines attended Madison West High School and was named Third Team All-America by the Associated Press in his senior year at the University of Louisville.

James, 29, appeared in 47 games for Milwaukee this season and averaged 11.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest. The fourth-year guard signed with the Bucks on August 5, after winning an NBA Championship with the Detroit Pistons in 2004.

Hamilton, 29, averaged 3.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 16 games with the Bucks this season. In 122 NBA games over his five-year career, Hamilton sports averages of 4.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest.
