Ohio State coach Thad Matta is recovering from his second back surgery in seven weeks.

Spokesman Dan Wallenberg said Matta underwent surgery on his lower back on Wednesday and is now resting at home. Wallenberg said the surgery was not as serious as the operation Matta had on June 16 to correct a herniated disk.

Matta will be able to spend more time this month recovering since it's a quiet period on the NCAA calendar, and coaches can't be out on the road evaluating players again until Sept. 9.
