The Houston Rockets signed rookie Donte Green to a contract on Monday, and then Greene responded by dropping 40 points on the Phoenix Suns in his summer league debut, the Houston Chronicle is reporting.

Greene, who signed his contract only five minutes before the game, made 12 of 20 shots and 11 of 12 free throws to lead the Rockets to a 100-97 win over the Suns, as the Rockets came back from a 17-point, second-half deficit.

The Rockets also waived Loren Woods.
