Fernando San Emeterio of Caja Laboral capped a fantastic Top 16 by marching his team into the playoffs on Thursday as the first-place team in Group E.

With a career-best performance, San Emeterio also earned himself the Top 16 Week 6 MVP honor. San Emeterio amassed 19 points and a Euroleague career-high 12 rebounds in a 68-77 road win over Lietuvos Rytas en route to a performance index rating of 37, the best of his three-year Euroleague career.

The small forward was made 4 of 6 two-point shots, both of his three-pointers and 5 of 6 free throws. He drew 8 fouls and committed none himself.

His performance a week after teammate Marcelinho Huertas was Top 16 Week 5 MVP honor marked the first time this season that teammates have won the honor in consecutive games.

San Emeterio now boasts the best average index rating in over the entire Euroleague season at 20.3 per game.

Second on the list of the week’s top performers was Fenerbahce Ulker forward Emir Preldzic, who collected 20 points and 3 assists as part of a 25 index rating. 

Panathinaikos playmaker Dimitris Diamantidis was third on the list of top performers after helping his team win at Unicaja to reach the playoffs. Diamantidis posted 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists for a 24 index rating.

Rounding out the list of top weekly performances were Partizan forward Jan Vesely and Olympiacos guard Jamon Gordon, with index ratings of 23. Vesely had a Euroleague career-high 23 points plus 6 rebounds and 2 blocks as Partizan bested Efes Pilsen in Istanbul. Gordon tallied 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals as the Reds beat Zalgiris.
