Three-point shooting wasn't a priority to Charlotte Bobcats coach Paul Silas’ predecessor, Larry Brown, who thought the three-point line was bad for the game. Brown always preferred players driving than taking jump shots. Silas also wants his players driving, but he says the team's weakness from the three-point line is well known and makes life easy for opposing defenses.

"It hurts your post play because they know they can sag in (defensively) and not worry that much," Silas described. "Three-point shooting puts the other team in a bind.

"Look at the teams with great three-point shooting: Now, San Antonio didn't do well in the playoffs, but they won 62 ball games during the regular season. When we played them, it was such a 'What are you going to do?' They can post up, they can penetrate, and everyone else is just knocking down 3s. So it's very important to have guys who can knock down those 3s."
