An ownership source told Chris Broussard that he doubts there will be a season, as a result of the limited time left to resolve the players' lawsuits and hammer out a new collective bargaining agreement.

"There's just not enough time," the source said. "I imagine another effort will be made toward the end of December."

The conference call among owners on Thursday was just an update and did not involve a strategy session.

There are no further calls or meetings scheduled, either among the owners or between the owners and players.

"No one wants to miss the season, but about half of the owners are willing to miss the season if it means fighting for a better deal," the source said.
