The first target for the Mavericks with their new traded player exception from the Tyson Chandler deal will be a sign-and-trade with the Kings for Samuel Dalembert.

Dallas already has Brendan Haywood on their depth chart at center, but will need to improve the frontline.

The Mavericks hope Dalembert would be willing to take a lucrative one-year deal instead of a multi-year pact with a rival team.

The TPE was never going to be a gateway for Dallas into acquiring Dwight Howard at this point. Their only chance of landing Howard is in free agency next summer.
