The Lakers surprisingly dealt Lamar Odom to the Mavericks after a trade for Chris Paul fell through.

The move will save the Lakers financially and his fit going forward moving out of the triangle offense and into Mike Brown's strong-corner offense made Odom less critical. Brown's offense is geared toward post play for big men, something Odom never has done very well.

Assuming Andrew Bynum is healthy, he would have also cut into Odom's minutes since those two shared the vast majority of the 96 available minutes per game at center and power forward.
