Although the Heat is still less than a week into training camp, first-round pick Norris Cole has already worked his way into Dwyane Wade’s good graces and is impressing teammates with his natural point guard abilities.

“You can tell with Norris he’s played point guard the majority of his life, and he knows how to play it,’’ Wade said Wednesday.
“He gets the ball, and right away he’s looking up the court, not putting his head down dribbling. He knows the guys to find already. He’s in my good graces already. All you have to do is find me once, and I feel good.’’

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said he is taking his time with Cole and has him learning simplified concepts on both ends of the floor.

“I don’t want to cloud his mind and confuse him with too many things to think about,’’ Spoelstra said. “He’s a very aggressive player, especially in transition. We want him to play his game. He was a fast-tempo point guard all throughout college. He’ll change the pace, and that’s what we want."
