In all likelihood, Eddy Curry will be with the Heat when the team travels to Dallas for its season opener against the Mavericks on Christmas Day.

On Wednesday, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra gave the strongest indication yet that the team plans to keep the reserve center in the fold for the start of the season. Curry, entering his 10th season in the NBA, has only played in 10 games in the past three seasons but the Heat, needing bulk in the low post, has given the former Knicks’ centerpiece a chance to potentially resurrect his career.

“We’ll evaluate everything, but the idea when we brought in Eddy to camp was to think big picture and not to rush it and not to get caught up in evaluation early on,” Spoelstra said. “He’s made progress, he’s shown us he’s bought into our culture and our structure and conditioning, and he’s getting in much better condition, so we’ll just have to see.”
