Ed Davis had his best performance of the season on Wednesday against Cleveland, posting eight points and seven boards just hours after having a one-on-one meeting with Dwane Casey.

“(I) just showed him the difference between his effort in the (first) Cleveland game versus his effort in New York, which I thought was not himself," said Casey. "I need energy, we want to develop Ed Davis but he’s got to earn it. And he did tonight. He came in and did a solid job, a much better job than he did in New York and he did against Orlando.

“We as a staff are not just going to give away minutes but he earned them tonight. The more he played as well as he did, he stayed on the floor. And that’s the way it’s going to be if you’re building the culture and building a team.”
