Kobe Bryant would welcome the Lakers’ acquisition of Gilbert Arenas.

"It surely wouldn't hurt," Bryant said Monday after practice at the Lakers' facility in El Segundo. "That's for sure."

Bryant expressed no concern about Arenas becoming a distraction off the court.

"Everybody makes mistakes," insisted Bryant. "He'll be fine."

Pau Gasol admitted the Lakers need “something,” but wouldn’t point to what that something was without offending a teammate or two.

"We just need to play better," Gasol said after pausing for a full 14 seconds to gather his thoughts. "We don't need a particular player. As a team and a player, your mind-set is to work with what you have. We have enough talent here to be able to play better and more consistent. Having said that, I don't know what we need. You tell me."
