Patrick Richard of McNeese State has been named the 2012 Southland Player of the Year. Richard, who was a First Team selection last season, averaged 18.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.4 steals during conference play.

Also on the All-Southland First Team is Antonio Bostic of Stephen F. Austin, Mike James of Lamar, William Mosley of Northwestern State and LaMarcus Reed III of Texas-Arlington.

On the All-Southland Second Team are Lamar teammates Devon Lamb and Anthony Miles, Jereal Scott of Stephen F. Austin, Bo Ingram of Texas-Arlington and Jeromie Hill of Texas-San Antonio.

On the All-Southland Third Team is Kevin Butler of Texas-Arlington, Shamir Davis of Northwestern State, Melvin Johnson III of Texas-San Antonio, LaQuentin Miles of Central Arkansas and Matt Staff of Texas State.

Receiving Honorable Mention votes are Kannon Burrage of UTSA, Dontae Cannon of McNeese State, Terrence Jones of Texas A&M-CC, Trevon Lewis of Nicholls State, Jordan Reeves of Texas-Arlington and Brooks Ybarra of Texas State.

Butler was named Newcomer of the Year and Lewis was recognized as Freshman of the Year.
