Scott Layden has been hired by the San Antonio Spurs as assistant general manager, according to sources.

Layden was most recently an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz and will replace Dennis Lindsey, who was hired by the Jazz last month as general manager.

Layden was general manager of the Jazz from 1992 until 1999 before becoming president and GM of the Knicks for less than five years.

Layden's primary responsibility will be administering the scouting department of the Spurs.
