Amar'e Stoudemire is likely to miss at least the first six weeks of the 12-13 season after re-injuring his surgically repaired right knee, according to sources.

The Knicks were expecting Stoudemire to return within two to three weeks after rupturing a popliteal cyst behind his knee.

Stoudemire received a second opinion over the weekend from the doctor that performed his 2005 microfracture surgery.

The Knicks were unable to insure Stoudemire's five-year, $100 million contract due to the condition of his knees.
