Several prominent figures within the Los Angeles Lakers' organization seek a reunion with Phil Jackson, according to sources.

Jackson stepped down as head coach of the Lakers after the 10-11 NBA season.

Jackson wanted to return to the NBA with the Knicks, according to a person with connections to the 11-time champion.

ESPN reported on Friday that Jackson is open to a return to the NBA and Mitch Kupchak kept the possibility open that the Lakers would contact him.

"When there's a coach like Phil Jackson, one of the all-time greats, and he's not coaching, I think you'd be negligent not to be aware that he's out there," Kupchak said.
