New Orleans Hornets coach Monty Williams said Sunday that rookie Anthony Davis remains a week away from elevating his conditioning with a stress fracture in his left ankle.

“If I have to guess, I think he’s a week away from us thinking about him ramping up his conditioning; let alone playing,'' Williams said. “So I just think it's still far off.''

Davis has missed seven straight games and hasn’t played since Nov. 17. He wore a protective boot during Saturday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder and then dressed but didn’t participate in Sunday’s practice.

Davis, the No. 1 pick in June’s NBA draft, is averaging a team-leading 16 points per game in just six games.

The Hornets are 2-4 with Davis in the lineup and 2-7 without him this season.
