Shane Battier has started 14 of the Miami Heat's 21 games this season but moved to a reserve role for seven straight contests before starting on Saturday night in place of Chris Bosh.

Battier hasn't complained about coming off the bench and has accepted his role as the Heat's "utility man," as Erik Spoelstra put it.

"My entire career, from high school to college, the NBA, it's been based on that," Battier said of his go-with-the-flow approach. "It's kept me employed. And you had to have flexibility in this league."

"His confidence will always be there," Spoelstra said. "He does all the little things, regardless of whether he starts or not."
