Lou Williams has been diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee and will miss the rest of the season, the Atlanta Hawks announced on Saturday.

Williams suffered the injury in Friday's loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

"We are extremely disappointed for Lou and our thoughts and support will be with him during his recovery," President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Danny Ferry said in a statement. "He has been a complete professional in every sense of the word and know that approach, along with his work ethic, will serve him well in his rehabilitation."

Williams will now rest for a period of time before having surgery. A timetable on his recovery will be set after surgery.

Williams' loss is a big blow to the Hawks, as he ranked third on the team in scoring averaging 14.1 points.
