Vivek Ranadive, the new primary owner of the Sacramento Kings, has placed Mike Malone on his list of head coach candidates, according to a source.

Ranadive had been a minority owner of the Golden State Warriors. Malone has been Mark Jackson's top assistant coach.

Keith Smart is not expected to be retained by the Kings.
