The Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics have begun discussions on a new deal that would satisfy the NBA's concerns about the structure. NBA rules do not allow coaches to be traded or have side deal contingencies.

The Clippers are trying to land Doc Rivers as their head coach while also acquiring Kevin Garnett. The Celtics would receive DeAndre Jordan for Garnett, while acquiring two first round picks for Rivers.

The Clippers walked away from negotiations on Tuesday, only to return on Wednesday at the apparent urging of Chris Paul.
