Steve Mills, president and general manager of the New York Knicks, met with reporters on Friday.

“He doesn’t have any role,” Mills said of Isiah Thomas. “He doesn’t have any role with the team. Isiah has a lot of good things going on with him personally and I do hope he’s one of the guys that they consider for the Players’ Association job. I don’t know if ESPN, given Magic’s departure from the studio show, if he’s one of the guys they’d consider for that. He’s doing a lot of things. He has a lot of things going on, but one of them is not having anything to do with the Knicks.”

Mills hired Thomas to be team president in 2003.

Mills replaced Glen Grunwald as general manger, but he remains with the organization.

“He doesn’t have any role,” Mills said of Thomas. “He doesn’t have any role with the team. Isiah has a lot of good things going on with him personally and I do hope he’s one of the guys that they consider for the Players’ Association job.
