The Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers were unable to reach a deal on a trade involving Pau Gasol for Andrew Bynum as of Sunday evening.

Talks are expected to continue into Monday.

The Lakers continue to seek more than just financial savings in exchange for Gasol. The Lakers would save more than $20 million in salary and luxury tax by trading for Bynum and waiving him.

The Cavaliers are considering two other possible deals, including one with the Utah Jazz for Richard Jefferson.

The Cavaliers could elect to waive Bynum by Tuesday to save $6 million, or keep him in an attempt to trade him before the deadline.
