When the New York Knicks come back from their Texas trip, Pablo Prigioni will be re-evaluated by the training staff and his progress from a broken toe has left strong belief that he’ll return soon, a league source told RealGM.

Prigioni fractured the big toe in his right foot on Dec. 16 against the Washington Wizards and had been given a return projection of at least two weeks. Despite an encouraging recent stretch, the Knicks have struggled to replace Prigioni’s passing and presence in the backcourt, and the team remains without Raymond Felton due to a hamstring injury.

Prigioni, 36, has rehabilitated diligently in order to rejoin the lineup with the proper conditioning.

The Knicks closed their three-game road trip in Texas with a 2-1 record, defeating the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night. They had reportedly stayed behind in Dallas for practice Monday, ahead of a home game against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.

Prigioni is averaging 3.9 points and 3.2 assists in 24 games this season – his second with the Knicks after re-signing with the organization on a three-year deal last summer.
