If Stan Van Gundy accepts the Detroit Pistons' offer to become president and head coach, he'll look closely at hiring Otis Smith.

Smith was general manager of the Orlando Magic and Van Gundy hasn't forgotten how well he was supported by him.

The Magic are offering a five-year deal worth $35 million to Van Gundy.
