Jonas Jerebko plans to exercise the player option worth $4.5 million next season in the final year of his four-year contract.

Jerebko said he hopes to be better utilized under new coach Stan Van Gundy.

“I feel like I can do much better than what I got the opportunity to show this past season,” Jerebko said in an interview with a Spanish newspaper.

“I’ve already made up my mind. I have one year left in Detroit, and I’ll keep on going. It’s a very important summer and season coming up."
