Jason Kidd has received permission to speak with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Kidd approached ownership with a series of demands, including the role of overseeing the Brooklyn Nets’ basketball operations department in addition to his head coaching responsibilities.

The source said Kidd didn’t want general manager Billy King to be dismissed, but wanted to be given a title and placed above him in the organizational hierarchy.

Sam Amick of the USA Today reports that the Bucks' front office was unaware of the franchise's interest in Kidd, which suggests it came from ownership.

Wes Edens and Marc Lasry, the Bucks' new owners, are friends with Kidd.

As an interested aside, a message board poster on RealGM broke news of the developing situation with Kidd two days before it surfaced in the media.
