Cameron Payne worked out for just four teams, while meeting with another, leading up to the NBA Draft. Conversely, Jerian Grant, who he matched up against in at least one workout, auditioned for 16-17 teams. A product of Murray State, Payne is proud of his anonymity, so why didn’t he visit more clubs?

Payne worked out for the Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets. He also met with the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, he felt so good about his mid-May showing with the Pacers that he would have stopped right there.

"My first workout was with the Pacers and I left a good impression,” Payne said. "I felt good about myself after I left and didn’t feel I needed to go workout for a lot of teams. I set myself up great, put myself in a good position. I ended up working out for the Lakers and now it was Cameron Payne is in the lottery. My draft range went from 15-30, now I’m 8-15 and it all happened for the best.”
