Phil Jackson has taken on a more active and vocal role at New York Knicks' practices since Kurt Rambis became interim head coach than he did during the tenure of Derek Fisher.

Fisher mostly resisted the input of Jackson, especially in front of the team.

Rambis is the preferred choice of Jackson to remain as head coach since he's more amenable to Jackson's influence than virtually any other coach would be. Jackson is committed to his former aide and longtime friend.

James Dolan reportedly isn’t entirely opposed to Rambis but he’s not quite ready to sign off on hiring him either.
