Ben Simmons would prefer to play for the Los Angeles Lakers but is fine being selected first overall by the Philadelphia 76ers.

A source close to Simmons said Thursday that Simmons, while undoubtedly preferring to be a Laker, "has no issue with playing for the Sixers."

Brandon Ingram is the other primary candidate for the 76ers.

On Snapchat last October, Simmons, who has been seen wearing a Magic Johnson jersey, can be heard saying, "You can catch me on the Lakers next year."

Multiple sources say the 76ers are leaning towards selecting Simmons.

Marc Eversley of the 76ers says the franchise is getting closer to reaching a decision.
