Dwight Howard has agreed upon a three-year, $70.5 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks.

Howard declined his $23.2 million player option with the Houston Rockets for 16-17 to test free agency. Howard's annual average on his new deal is $23.5 million.

Howard grew up in the Atlanta area and will join his third team since being traded by the Orlando Magic in 2012. Howard narrowed his list and started meetings promptly on July 1st. Howard had scheduled meetings on Saturday, but canceled them after coming to terms with Atlanta.

The Hawks have two significant free agents of their own this offseason in Al Horford and Kent Bazemore. They will likely only be able to keep one of those two players after agreeing upon terms with Howard.
