Kevin Durant has announced he will sign with the Golden State Warriors.

Durant took meetings with the Thunder, Warriors, Clippers, Spurs, Celtics and Heat from Thursday until Sunday.

Durant is expected to sign a two-year contract at $54.3 million with a Player Option for Year 2.

"The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction," wrote Durant. "But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth. With this in mind, I have decided that I am going to join the Golden State Warriors."

Durant is widely considered the NBA’s most impactful free agent to hit the open market since LeBron James in either 2010 or 2014.

In 2014, Durant was named MVP of the NBA but had a number of foot surgeries to limit him to just 27 games during the 14-15 season. Durant returned this past season to play in 72 games as he remained healthy and averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game with a True Shooting Percentage of .634.

Durant and the Thunder defeated the Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals in six games and then went up 3-1 to the Warriors in the Conference Finals before losing three straight games.

The Thunder went to the 2012 Finals but their momentum was quickly halted by trading away James Harden and also a torn meniscus by Russell Westbrook in the first round of the 2013 playoffs. Oklahoma City returned to the Conference Finals in 2013 but an injury to Serge Ibaka ultimately played a part in their loss to the eventual champion Spurs.
