Jeremy Lin met with both the Brooklyn Nets and New Orleans Pelicans at the start of free agency in Palo Alto at 9:01 PM.

Lin was coming off an excellent season with the Charlotte Hornets in which he restored his value.

Lin announced his decision to sign with the Nets at 7:02 AM just a few hours later.

"This is where I want to be," said Lin, who signed a three-year, $36 million deal with Brooklyn that includes a player option in the final year. "I feel this is the best place for me to become the player I think I can become. I want to see how good I can become and be a big part of an organization, and that's what they gave me here."

The Houston Rockets also showed interest in Lin but talks never progressed.

While Lin was intrigued by the idea of playing with Anthony Davis, the Pelicans weren't willing to commit the type of contract he received from the Nets.
