Kevin Durant enjoyed and embraced the extracurricular chatter coming from the Thunder in his first game against his former team.

“I know those guys over there and they know me,” Durant said. “Trash-talking is a part of it. Anybody who’s seen me play or gets this close to me and know how I play out on the court. They know what it is. As long as we’re in between the lines, everything is all good with me. So I’m going to go out there and be who I am. You talk to me, I talk back. I don’t really say much but if you start, I’ll finish it.”

Jerami Grant dunked on Durant in the first quarter which ignited him. Durant scored 10 more points before the quarter ended, including a layup that Grant fouled him on. Durant stared down Grant following the play.

“When you get dunked on like that, you want to come back as a competitor. You just come back at him and try to make a play and try to ignite your team,” Durant said. “So he ignited his team with that dunk and I just tried to do the same throughout the whole game.”

Durant and Russell Westbrook never spoke or physically acknowledged each other during the evening, including the 10-minute chapel session they each attended.

“I don’t talk to anybody in chapel. I listen to the word and I get back to the locker room,” Westbrook said.

“I’ve moved on,” Durant said. “I’m a part of the Golden State Warriors and I’m excited to be a part of this team. What I did in those last eight years [with the Thunder] were special. It’s something that I’ll never forget, but I’ve got to move forward.”
