Rob Pelinka could be a candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers' general manager vacancy.

Pelinka is the longtime agent of Kobe Bryant, who also represents James Harden, Andre Iguodala and Avery Bradley.

Tellem was one of the NBA's most powerful agents before he joined the front office of the Detroit Pistons.

The Lakers parted ways with Mitch Kupchak on Tuesday with Magic Johnson becoming President of Basketball Operations.

The success of Bob Myers with the Golden State Warriors creates a blueprint for a successful agent to enter team management.

Update: Eric Gordon said Pelinka will indeed become the GM of the Lakers. Pelinka represents Gordon.

"He is going to be the GM of the Lakers," said Gordon. "I think he's going to be good. He's always had a good reputation as an agent. I expect nothing but good things for him. It's definitely a different challenge for him. He knows basketball for sure."

Ramona Shelburne reported Pelinka has begun to inform his clients of the possibility of taking the Lakers' job.
