The Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers have engaged in trade talks centered on Paul George.

George has been clear that he intends to sign with the Lakers if he reached free agency in 2018.

With George just one year away from free agency, the Lakers have been reluctant to part with anything of tremendous value in a trade.

George wants to avoid playing for another team before joining the Lakers. George can also sign a five-year deal if he's traded to the Lakers before free agency.

The Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards and Cleveland Cavaliers have also discussed a George trade with Indiana.

According to Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum SportsNet, the Lakers do prefer acquiring George now as opposed to waiting until his 2018 free agency but are not prepared to give up too much.
