Chris Paul has been traded by the Los Angeles Clippers to the Houston Rockets.

Paul agreed to the opt-in of his contract to allow the trade to happen.

The Clippers will receive Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell, DeAndre Liggins, Darrun Hilliard, Kyle Wiltjer and a top-3 protected 2018 first round pick in exchange for Paul.

Paul had until Wednesday to opt out of the final season of his contract.

During a meeting on Tuesday, Paul informed the Clippers that he planned to sign with the Rockets in free agency unless they worked out a trade.

According to David Aldridge, the Clippers were unwilling to give Paul a fifth year at the max which would have been worth nearly $45 million.
