The Washington Wizards have stopped interviewing candidates for their general manager vacancy after they were unable to secure a deal with Tim Connelly of the Denver Nuggets. The Wizards are reportedly pursuing Masai Ujiri, who is under contract for two more seasons with the Toronto Raptors.

"I have heard there's been at least some communication between the franchises and Toronto has expressed that if they're going to give up Masai Ujiri, they would like to have, I've been told, significant compensation," said Brian Windhorst on the Hoop Collective podcast.

The Wizards own the No. 9 pick in the draft.

Washington has also interviewed Tommy Sheppard, Danny Ferry and Troy Weaver. Sheppard is running the Wizards on an interim basis.
