Kevin Durant signed a one-plus-one contract with the Golden State Warriors in each of his previous two offseasons with the team.

The first offseason in 2017 allowed the Warriors enough financial flexibility to re-sign Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston. Durant re-signed for $9.4 million below his max.

Last offseason, Durant re-signed for $5.4 million below his max. The decision allowed Durant to sign a one-plus-one because he otherwise had to agree to a deal with at least two guaranteed seasons, but he wanted to commit to just one.

"The power brokers in that Warriors locker room understood the business justification but could also decipher the hint. Durant’s eyes were wandering," writes Anthony Slater.

Durant explained the decision to Shams Charania last July.

“I just want to take it a day at a time, and I don’t want to look at my future now,” Durant said. “The [one-plus-one] was the perfect thing for me to do, to keep things open for me — financially and what I want to do. It’s just one of those things.”
