The NBA is expected to use a target score to end the All-Star Game next season, league sources told Zach Lowe of ESPN.

The idea, similar to the Elam Ending used in The Basketball Tournament, was originally brought up by Chris Paul.

The league is likely to add more than 24 points to the target score if they use it next season. The original idea was to add 38 points to the leading team's third quarter total, though the number was dropped to 24 points to honor Kobe Bryant.

The 4th quarter featured the equivalent of 15 minutes of game time and 39 minutes of real time.

The NBA will discuss bringing the system to the G League, although it is unlikely to be widely adapted since the resulting style of play would be too different from the NBA game.

The league is also discussing ways where the game would not end in a free throw, including taking away points to the team that commits a shooting foul on a potential game-winning shot.
