There’s a pair of Curry’s lighting it up for the Warriors this season. Most are probably familiar with Stephen Curry, the point guard for the Golden State Warriors who is well on his way to his first NBA All-Star appearance. However, his younger brother, Seth, is having a stellar season of his own for the D-League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors.

The 6-foot-2 point guard from Duke went undrafted in June after he averaged 17.5 points per game in his senior season on 47 percent shooting with a 44 percent clip from three-point range. Curry spent training camp with the Warriors before he was waived in the final round of cuts.

There weren’t any doubts about his shooting ability, but he had a shooting guard’s skill set in a point guard’s body type. The biggest concerns were his ball handling, lack of athleticism, and lateral quickness that would allow him to stay in front of NBA point guards.

He’s starting to lay those concerns to rest. Curry is averaging 22.0 points, 7.9 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game for the 7-3 Santa Cruz Warriors. He’s currently eighth in scoring and fourth in assists throughout the D-League. He can do a better job limiting his turnovers, as he averages 3.9 per game, but he’s developing into one of the best prospects in the D-League.

Curry is more aggressive off ball screens and has been excelling in pick-and-rolls that he would see in the NBA. At Duke, Curry saw most of his time at shooting guard, but he’s the primary ball handler in Santa Cruz while averaging 36.9 minutes per contest.

Curry is the ninth best prospect in the D-League according to the league’s website and the third best point guard behind Pierre Jackson and Kendall Marshall. He was recently invited to work out for the Memphis Grizzlies and although they didn’t extend a contract offer, it’s a sign that he’s on NBA radars.

With the improvement seen from Curry early in his professional career, he could find his way onto an NBA roster sooner rather than later. He’s getting notice in the D-League and should garner more NBA looks throughout the season.
