Spurs Assign Blake Ahearn To Austin

The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have assigned guard Blake Ahearn to the Austin Toros, the NBA Development League team owned and operated by the Spurs.

Ahearn has appeared in three games for the Spurs and averaged 2.7 points in 6.3 minutes.  He was signed by San Antonio on 11/16.

Memphis Assigns Hamed Haddadi To D-League

The Memphis Grizzlies assigned center Hamed Haddadi to the Dakota Wizards, their NBA Development League affiliate, General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.

?The Dakota Wizards are a tremendous organization which the Grizzlies are fortunate to have as our affiliate,? Wallace said. ?We are eager to watch Hamed?s development under coach Duane Ticknor?s tutelage. This assignment will be a positive experience for Hamed.?

Oklahoma City Assigns Steven Hill To D-League

Oklahoma City Thunder General Manager Sam Presti announced today that the team has assigned center Steven Hill to the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League.

Hill (7-0, 245) saw action in one regular season game with the Thunder. The Branson, Missouri native scored two points and grabbed three rebounds in two minutes of action versus the Orlando Magic.

Spurs Sign D-League's Blake Ahearn

The San Antonio Spurs today signed Dakota Wizards? guard Blake Ahearn, making him the first GATORADE Call-Up of the 2008-09 NBA Development League season, and the 120th overall since the league began play in November 2001.

The Call-Up marks the second of Ahearn?s career, following a stint with the Miami Heat during the 2007-08 season when he averaged 5.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 14.8 minutes in 12 games.  A member of the Minnesota Timberwolves training camp this season, Ahearn appeared in five preseason games and averaged 7.8 points and 1.2 assists in 11.8 minutes.  

Ahearn played in 41 games (15 starts) for the Wizards during the 2007-08 season when he earned the NBA D-League?s Rookie of the Year award and averaged 19.0 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 29.5 minutes, while shooting 48.6 percent from the field, 43.9 percent from three-point range and 96.0 percent from the free throw line.  

A standout at Missouri State, Ahearn averaged 13.1 points and 1.8 assists while shooting 42.3 percent from the field during his career.  He finished his NCAA career as the all-time leading free throw shooter in NCAA Division I history, while finishing as Missouri State?s seventh all-time leading scorer with 1,677 points.  

Ahearn is expected to join fellow NBA D-League alumni Ime Udoka and Ian Mahinmi and the Spurs tonight in Sacramento when the team takes on the Kings.  He will wear jersey number 18.

The Tulsa 66ers selected Chris Richard, a 6-9 center/forward from Florida, with the first overall selection in the 2008 NBA Development League Draft.  With the second pick, the Colorado 14ers drafted James Mays, a 6-8 power forward from Clemson.
