Jan 29, 2009 12:53 PM

Patrick Ewing Jr. was a big-name acquisition for the Bighorns of the D-League back in December, but he struggled with his shooting early.

Things are now starting to pick up for Ewing, with the former Georgetown Hoya averaging 17.9 points and shooting .520 (78-150) from the field in his last 12 games. This is a marked improvement for Ewing, who shot only .344 and averaged 10.5 points in his first six games as a Bighorn. He made his first start of the season on Saturday, scoring 21 points with seven rebounds and five assists in a win over Bakersfield.

D-League Grants First Protest In History

Jan 13, 2009 5:15 PM

The NBA Development League has granted Utah's protest of its loss to Colorado last month, the first successful challenge in the league's eight-year history.

On Tuesday, the NBDL ordered the teams to replay the final 25.2 seconds of the game, with the score tied at 102.

Utah protested the 104-102 loss on Dec. 26 after Bill Walker was incorrectly disqualified by fouls with 25.2 seconds left. It should only have been his fifth foul; a foul against teammate J.R. Giddens with 9:24 remaining in the second quarter was mistakenly credited to Walker by Colorado's official scorer.

The replay will occur April 10 in Utah, with the teams' regularly scheduled game to follow.

Dorsey Returns From D-League

Jan 13, 2009 5:29 AM

Rockets' rookie Joey Dorsey has been recalled from the D-League, but it is believed that the return is for Dorsey to get treatment for plantar fasciaitis and then the forward will be re-assigned back to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Houston Chronicle is reporting.

Dorsey is averaging 9.7 points and nine rebounds in seven games with the Vipers.

?We thought it was best to rehab in Houston,? Rockets' GM Daryl Morey said. ?Once he is better, and it?s sort of unknown how long it will take to be back to 100 percent with plantar fasciaitis, the plan is to play in the D-League. When I saw him last week in Utah (at the D-League Showcase), he couldn?t run and jump.?
